Super busy day today from morning till evening. I was on-site photographing an event that had lots going on. Plenty of excitement, but also was having to lug around a bunch of camera gear - that’s not quite so much fun. Here’s a photo of me and the Sara’s (their names are both the same) during a break in the action. Fun folks to work with.
I had a senior photo shoot last fall and had this shot from it that I initially didn’t like so much. I was trying out some new lighting gear and had wrapped up for the day. We were loading things back in the car and the the light as she was walking had some nice qualities to it. In color, this shot was ok, but I think in black and white, it’s much more interesting. I was doing a lot of photo work over this weekend and had time to play around with this.
I spent part of my day doing laundry (like I almost always do on Saturdays). Aside from a few errands at lunch today, I was camped out in front of my PC working on photos or on the drums getting ready for tomorrow. This is one of the shots I turned out today.
I finally found time to watch the Harold and Kumar go to White Castle DVD that a friend loaned me. I was warned that it was stupid - it did not disappoint in that area; BELIEVE ME. Still, some mindless humor now and then is a nice escape from a mundane day.
It’s been raining since the late afternoon here. A prime day to stay indoors I tell ya. I think winter is arriving a little late for us this year.
We’re gonna need to get some sun down here before too long. This string of gray days is depressing. Back when I was at Intergraph, my last office was in the middle of the building with absolutely ZERO windows. There weren’t even windows on the outer office either. Gray days really didn’t matter then. Now, my desk sits right beside an 8′ tall window where I can see into our parking lot… and the pink building across it.
Been working on paperwork most of the morning so far. I’ll probably spend the rest of the day researching some new software to use for some upcoming projects. Band practice is tonight. Nothing out of the ordinary on the schedule so it should all go smoothly. Ahhh….
The show got cranked up again tonight. Looks pretty good - they definitely have my interest. The new guys… invisible man and the dude with the firey hands looked like some promising story lines. Hopefully they’ll keep the momentum going. Was it me or did the commercials seem extremely long tonight during the show? Yeah, AT&T and Bellsouth are getting together - I get it already.
Music - my one lone reader asked how the music went yesterday (thanks for caring TC). It went smoooothly. Everything worked out suprisingly well. The most entertaining thing was the message was based around a “Deal or No Deal” theme complete with Dave shaving his head and Leah being one of the briefcase models. We need to get a video of that stuff online so ya’ll can get in on the fun.
I have a rant. The Wal-Mart brand of refill soap called Equate is NOT the same thing as the real Softsoap, dangit. I’ve got the little pump dispenser thingy and with the REAL Softsoap, when you push down you get a nice gel-like amount in your palm. With the Equate stuff, you push down and you end up looking like Monica Lewinski after a meeting in the Oval Office. It’s thin as water. I actually may go exchange it since I bought a bottle that should normally last me awhile. The REAL Softsoap only for me from now on.
More photo fun. This is a shot taken by a co-worker from the top of another building as I was setting up for a shot of my own. That’s me on the catwalk outside the control tower. I’m a few hundred feet off the ground standing on a grate… that moves a little. Not the most confidence inspiring footing, but I just focused on getting the shot I needed and put the rest out of my mind. I don’t mind heights, I just mind falling off and splattering on the concrete below.
Hmmm, its 8:30 friday evening and we’re just now about to hit indianapolis. Its rainy out making for one LONG drive home. I’m hoping to able to doze off soon and sleep for a few hundred miles.
I got some good photos at the conference I attended. It definitely makes me look at my part of the worship service in a new light. The goal to shoot for is excellence. That’s not a bad target to keep in sight.
