Instead of just writing one entry a day, how about I just write whenever something remotely interesting pops up?
I’ve been rocking out to Blue October’s “Foiled” album today. I really liked the feel of their “Into the Ocean” track and meant to go buy the album. I was going to Huntsville today and pick it up at Best Buy but I ended up not driving over there. Fired up iTunes and bought it online. The rest of the album is pretty good too. The recent hit “Hate Me” is there plus another track I’m liking - “Drilled a Wire Through My Cheek”. Pretty rockin stuff.
My taste in music varies widely. As a musician, I think you just have to expose yourself to as many different genres of music as you can to have more things to pull from, creatively speaking. A few weeks ago there was a new song we were playing in church that had a catchy, but different drum lick in it. I started playing and it seemed oddly familiar… turns out it was a similar lick from a metal song I had played in the past. When I realized that, I laughed to myself and enjoyed how well it fit this song too.
Another song I like the feel of is Akon and Snoop Dogs “I Wanna Love You”. Musically and vocally it sounds good although I’m not a fan of the lyrics. There’s a “clean” and “explicit” version of the song that’s been released. Somtimes I wonder what the motivation for “expicit” lyrics is for other than a marketing ploy. I haven’t ran across any particular song that was elevated because it had “explicit” lyrics in it. Maybe I’m just getting old.
