Rolling in the rain.

Hmmm, its 8:30 friday evening and we’re just now about to hit indianapolis. Its rainy out making for one LONG drive home. I’m hoping to able to doze off soon and sleep for a few hundred miles.

I got some good photos at the conference I attended. It definitely makes me look at my part of the worship service in a new light. The goal to shoot for is excellence. That’s not a bad target to keep in sight.

More later.

Blogging on the ‘berry

As I sit in the mini-van, we are hurtling through Sellersburg, Indiana. We watched the movie “RV” on the on-board DVD player. The movie was ok I guess.

The Wordpress software I’m using is much more Blackberry friendly in comparison to the Blogger interface before. I like it.

We have to wait on the train.

Lesa and Sommer after dispatching the offending weed. After a busy day at work yesterday, I had an even busier time shooting a photo last night. The idea was to get a shot of someone having dinner and also to capture the river and bridge into town in the background. When I was framing up the shot, it looked great except for one thing - there was a huge weed that was several feet tall in the way. While I continued getting my camera set up, the girls trekked down to the weed and proceed to jump on it, mangle and trample it. It was quite vicious. Here’s a shot of them relishing their victory over the weed.

At one point, a train pulled up and blocked the view of the river… for an hour. That backed up the schedule a good bit. I got some really good results though. Here’s a sample of one of the shots I ended up with.

Sommer by the river.
This probably won’t be the view we end up using because she’s looking into the camera and the concept was to have her looking away but it gives you an idea of what I was able to get. She was a good sport and fun to work with.

Today I’ve got to get packed this morning as I’ve got to go out of town to attend a conference with some friends from church. Should be a great time!

A model of health.

I finally got rid of that sinus whatever-it-was over the weekend. It was only bad for about 2 days but it took a lot longer for it to completely go away.

Feeling much more like myself, I went out to watch a play at a local college - The Female Odd Couple. I think it was the first play I’ve ever went to - definitely the first in that intimate of an environment. Despite the dialog being a little loud for my tastes and a few scenes that were… let’s say almost NSFWV, it was decent. I was impressed that all the actors remembered their lines as there was a lot going on. Ended the evening with a late dinner at Red Lobster.

Riverfest CompetitorI’ve been busy behind the camera the past several days both for work and fun. The annual Riverfest BBQ competition was a hit at it’s new location at the Ingalls boat launch. I took some shots there Friday night and Saturday afternoon. Looks like it was well attended.

I got my fill of BBQ as you can imagine. Actually, I ate at the vendor in the photo twice. Their ribs were delicious. Friday evening, some of my friend’s bands were playing which I enjoyed. It was a really nice evening out - low humidity, good music, good food, friends…

Sunday was another good day. Church was once again packed. Despite my concerns about some portions of music we played, the music actually went off without any issues. I did need to make a note to my self that flip-flops are NOT a good choice when I have to play anything intricate or fast (in this case) on the kick pedal. My right flop almost went flyin’ a few times but with some fancy toe gripping skillz, I was able to keep my footwear under control.

Sudafed RULES.

Filed under Daily Happenings | 1 Comment

Thanks to drugs, I made it through the day in pretty good shape. Even though I’m not back to 100%, I felt the best I had since last Thursday. The day was a gray rainy one though. Had to bust out with the rain coat.

After work, I swung by the grocery store to re-stock on juice, soup and COOKIES. I figured I’d have one more night of chicken soup before returning to heavier meals. Got home and found that my internet connection seems to be acting normal again. YouTube actually streams to me properly now! I figure there was something hosed down at my ISP’s office that was futzing with the media streams. I was going to open a trouble ticket with them if things weren’t working this evening but apparently it’s all healed. I tried YouTube from work and it did fine there so I surmised it was my network.

Busy weekend coming up with Riverfest on Friday and Saturday. The weather is predicted to be awesome. I can’t wait!

You Tube problems and DC Benny

Filed under In other news | 1 Comment

Change of subject - is anyone having problems with YouTube? For me, it’s not working as well as it has been. Usually, videos load and play for me quickly. The past few days though, performance has been very bad. Most of the time I’m not even able to get a complete video to play.

I’ve been trying to watch some videos by a comdian named DC Benny. I heard his skit on “Unagi” the other day on my satellite radio and laughed my ass off! I was hoping to see a video version of him performing it. I did find one on his website, but it was slightly different from what I heard. I’ll have to check out some of his other stuff.

The blahs continue…

I rested pretty much all day Saturday. Sat around drinking orange juice and having several bowls of chicken soup. That evening, some kids that go to my church were playing at a local coffee shop. I cleaned up and went to listen to them. They were only playing 5 songs so it would be a short set. After they finished, I listened to some songs from another band for a few minutes before coming back home. I did get to enjoy a strawberry smoothie while I was out that was a nice departure from the bland soup I’d been having.

Before going to bed, I set up my VCR to record the Italian Grand Prix for me in the morning since I was scheduled to play drums. I finally fell asleep and got some rest.
Woke up this morning still feeling rough. Despite that, I made some breakfast and got ready. There’s really no way for me to cancel playing on such short notice. There’s no real alternative there. Now, if I was barfing all over the place - that’s another story. Even though I felt pretty rotten, I decided to put on my best face, try my best not to “look” sick and just do my thing. I’m glad I did. Had a great time this morning. Had a WHOPPING crowd in the second service! That was exciting and encouraging. Thankfully, I made it through without feeling worse or coughing my head off.

On the way home, got a call from Kyle that they were eating at Big Bob’s for lunch. I almost went on home then decided that I could use some different food for a change. Joined up with them for some good pork BBQ before finally making it home. That was the extent of my adventures for today.

I did find out from others that plenty of people are sick with something right now. Apparently there’s also some kind of stomach bug going around. That’s different that what I’ve got which seems to be more of a head cold with some bits of flu like symptoms. Even JaG over in Europe says all her friends are sick! Sheesh. Hope I’m better soon. This stinks.

Funkified.

Filed under Daily Happenings | 1 Comment

I seem to have contracted some kind of funk-itis since yesterday. It all started with a scratchy throat yesterday afternoon that turned into that yucky feeling you have just before being all out sick. I would have stayed home today but I had several important appointments I really needed to be a part of. Lesa and I went to lunch at Logan’s where I hoped that a good meal would get me feeling better. NOPE. It no workee.

After leaving the office, I headed straight to Publix where I stocked up on chicken soup, some drinks, some frozen dinners and some cookies - all elements that will keep me fed and watered should I be staying home all weekend if that’s what happens.

Like I think I mentioned before in a past posting, now is definitely one of the times it would be nice to be dating someone. When you’re feeling sick, having someone there to take care of you is a definite plus. In lieu of that, I have food, drink, internet, cable TV, satellite TV and several magazine subscriptions to keep me entertained in the meantime.

Yay me.

You’ve got mail!

Filed under Bonus Fun, Music | 1 Comment

Finally, my drum part saga finally was over when I received the screws I was waiting for via mail Tuesday. I got my drum all put back together again so I’m ready to roll. I’m happy. :)

I had a freaked out dream last night. I dreamt I was asleep in a bedroom then got up for whatever reason. The room was bright. I accidentally kicked over a waste basket and out comes this bright, neon green scorpion. It’s also kind of rubbery (at least it looked that way). It’s chasing down a beetle of some sort. The next thing I know, I’m in a corner of the room with the beetle coming towards me and the scorpion right behind it. I jump over the bug but as I’m over the scorpion, it stings me and I jump. At this point, I’ve REALLY woken myself up. I vividly remembered what had just happened in my dream, laughed at myself, rolled over and mumbled “what an idiot” before dozing off again.

What kinds of dreams have you had where you woke yourself up? I think falling in a dream wakes me up too. I don’t dream a lot and even when I do, it’s not something that usually wakes me. Just thought I’d share.

Lazy labor day…

Filed under Daily Happenings | 1 Comment

I really only accomplished two things today - washing my car and my dog. I got concerned towards the evening that it was going to rain. There were some ominous clouds in the distance that looked like trouble. Nothing ever came of that though.

I did make some progress figuring out how to handle photos with the new blog software. I added photos to 2 of my recent posts to test out my new skillz. It’s not quite as convenient as using Hello! with Blogger but as I get more comfortable with it, it’ll become second nature. There’s still more to tinker with though.

Hope everyone had a good weekend. Gonna go watch the local news then head to bed.
